Senior Automation Engineer Maritime

Job Description
As a Senior Automation Engineer, you play a key role in realizing advanced automated systems on board naval ships. You develop automation concepts for various installations, ensuring your design is not only functional but also fully compliant with international regulations. You work within a model-based systems engineering environment (V-model) and are involved in the design, validation, and commissioning. Your work only ends when a new naval ship leaves the port operational.

Your responsibilities as a Senior Automation Engineer:

  • Drafting functional descriptions and basic designs for automation processes on board;
  • Drafting and maintaining specifications for automation components and installation procedures;
  • Writing test and validation plans (simulations, FAT, HAT, SAT) in accordance with customer requirements and regulations;
  • Managing suppliers and subcontractors and monitoring their input in the project;
  • Reviewing external designs and integrating them into the ship design;
  • Developing standards and methods for detailed engineering and commissioning;
  • Providing input during the quotation phase and drafting conceptual automation solutions;
  • Providing technical support during commissioning and start-up on site.

Job Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in designing and installing complex automation systems (PLC/SCADA);
  • Experience with projects involving multiple disciplines, suppliers, and subcontractors;
  • Experience working according to the V-model within an MBSE environment is a must;
  • Completed higher professional or university education in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar;
  • Excellent references and willingness to undergo security screening;
  • EU nationality is required due to the nature of the projects. Candidates with (also) non-EU nationality cannot be considered.

Employment Conditions

  • An attractive salary up to €7,000 gross per month and 8% holiday allowance;
  • 27 vacation days and 13 ADV days;
  • Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometer;
  • PME pension scheme with 60% employer contribution;
  • Profit-sharing scheme depending on company results;
  • Possibility to work from home up to two days a week;
  • Additional secondary benefits such as a bicycle plan and company fitness.
