Control Design Engineer Petrochemical Renewables

Job Description
As a Control Design Engineer, you will be part of the Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (EIC) team. You will design and program high-quality PLC and HMI solutions while working within multidisciplinary teams to deliver technical installations. This position offers plenty of room for autonomy and personal growth in a high-tech work environment.

Your responsibilities as Control Design Engineer:

  • Design and program PLC systems according to IEC 61131-3 and project specifications;
  • Set up a structured alarm system based on input from E&I;
  • Develop clear and user-friendly HMI screens;
  • Test PLCs in the workshop and support commissioning activities on site;
  • Draft technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors;
  • Manage software versions, drawings, standards, and documentation;
  • Support commissioning engineers both remotely and on location;
  • Collaborate with E&I engineers and other technical teams;
  • Monitor and resolve deviations and issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor level in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics;
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role;
  • Experience in programming process installations and Siemens PLCs;
  • Knowledge of PCS7 is a plus;
  • Ability to read P&IDs and work in a structured and detail-oriented manner;
  • Flexible and willing to travel internationally on occasion;
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license (B) and willingness to obtain a VCA certificate;
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.

  • Accurate and analytical mindset;
  • Independent while also a strong team player;
  • Good communication skills and perseverance;
  • Flexible attitude with a hands-on mentality.

ICT Knowledge

  • Siemens PLC programming languages;
  • Knowledge of PCS7 (preferred);
  • Familiarity with E-plan and version control (preferred).

Employment Conditions

  • Salary up to € 5.400 and excellent secondary employment conditions;
  • 27 vacation days and 13 ADV days based on full-time employment;
  • 8% holiday allowance and travel reimbursement;
  • Solid pension scheme (PME);
